Fighting the Good Fight: Amendment 08-B
I just made it official that I will be giving the "for" presentation in regard to the Presbytery of South Louisiana's vote on Amendment 08-B. I'll be studying up on all the published arguments from folks like More Light Presbyterians, Covenant Network and That All May Freely Serve, as well as looking at some of the 'con' arguments that are out there. If anyone has any suggestions for other resources or arguments that have not yet appeared in print, please let me know.

Thank you Theologyman! We need a hero! You have probably read enough resources. My suggestion is now to go with your instincts and make the argument that convinced you to hold the views you do now. Nothing communicates like honesty. Praying for you and for all the good folks in South Louisiana!
Hurrah!
Since you asked... people are moved so deeply by the real stories of real LGBT people in the church--how exclusion has hurt LGBT folks, and also how it's led them to joyfully seek membership and service in more accepting churches (or to leave the church altogether.) Everyone knows someone who's been touched by LGBT exclusion in some way. As intellectually rewarding as the polished arguments are (and I say this as the author of a couple of the articles), the real stories matter most. Don't let any of the commissioners forget that this is about the church's response to real people.
Lots of prayers with you and South Louisiana!
Heather
If I see any good resources I'll pass them along.
Good Luck, Clint, fight the good fight,
and remember:
You abide by Christ.
You do not abide by B.
Hey Clint, I don't know how frequently you check your blog, but I would LOVE to hear your thoughts on this article:
http://www.motherjones.com/media/2009/03/books-purpose-driven-wife
What exactly does it mean for wives to be submissive to their husbands?
Does it ever work the other way?
Do I have to listen to my S.O. if we're not married? (sorry, Alexi.)
~Peace

MissMala,
I have a hard time imagining you being submissive to anyone. I really chalk it up to the line from C'67 that Scripture is "nevertheless the words of MEN".
